Dane T. Griggs, DDS
Growing up in Torrington, I watched my dad, Dr. Lance Griggs, practice dentistry, and I knew at a young age that I wanted to follow in his footsteps. I discovered my passion for dentistry early on, as I was always interested in dental and patient health care. I look up to my dad, not only as a father, but also as a dentist. I feel proud to be a third generation dentist and appreciate the practice my dad and grandfather, Dr. James Griggs, have established in this great community.
After graduating from Torrington High School in 2007, I attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2011. I then graduated with my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 2015. I am honored to be a UNMC of Dentistry alumnus, and know I received one of the best educations possible for general dentistry, the latest technology advancements and patient care. I continue to further my education in all aspects of dentistry, especially implantology. I take pleasure in working to attain the best dental health care plan for each of my patients and especially enjoy working with children.
My wife Megan and I met in college and married in July 2013. Megan graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in journalism, advertising and graphic design. Megan is from the small town of Clearwater, Nebraska. Growing up as a farmer’s daughter, she appreciates being back in the small town life. We had our daughter, Josie, in March 2015, and our son, James, in May 2017. Becoming a dad has been some of the best moments in my life. As for me, I love spending time with family and friends, fly fishing, hunting and almost any other outdoor activity. My family and I are excited to make Torrington our home and look forward to serving the community.

Born and raised in Torrington, Wyoming my father Dr. James Griggs was a dentist here for 28 years until his death in 1980. I began my college career in Laramie, Wyoming at UW in pre-medicine. After watching my father’s doctor friends being called away regularly from their families I decided to follow in my father’s footsteps and pursue dentistry. I was accepted at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and graduated in 1983. My wife Nancy of 36 years and I met at school where she was a dental hygiene student and married in 1982. We have one son Dane, who is married to Megan. Together they have a young daughter, Josie and son James. Dane graduated in May of 2015 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry and is currently practicing dentistry with me. Our daughter, who is also named Megan is a Nurse Practitioner in Denver, Colorado. She is married to Kevin Watanabe and they have one son named Samuel. When I am not practicing dentistry I love to spend time with my family and friends, hunt, fish, play golf and am an avid reader.
I have 30 years’ experience working with patients of all ages. I love children and work well with them. I have taken extensive continuing education courses in Orthodontics, Implants, Endodontics, Cosmetic Procedures, and Restorative Procedures. I was a member of the Miles Markley Study Club for 13 years until it’s completion in 1998. There I studied a plethora of dental topics and procedures with several peers and speakers. I have a staff with 80 years combined experience that is caring and competent. We pride ourselves in making our patients feel welcome, comfortable, and well cared for. I find it very rewarding to witness the transformation of my patients’ smiles and health.
